Looking for a Perplexity alternative for auditing your website?

Perplexity is two things at once, and only one of them competes with us. Ask it to grade your homepage and you get the same confident, unrepeatable opinion any assistant gives you. But it is also somewhere your buyers now ask about your category, which makes being readable and quotable in it a real problem worth solving. We audit the second half. We do not pretend the first half is a measurement.

Most website audits are one AI's guess. Every score in yours comes from machine-learning models trained on how thousands of real people rated thousands of real web pages, and checked against the standards professionals use for speed, accessibility, readability, and brand. It is the grading a university lab runs, for the price of a coffee.

When to choose Perplexity

Choose Perplexity when the job is research rather than a verdict on your site. It cites where it got things, which makes it far easier to check than an assistant that just asserts, and it is genuinely useful for working out how your category is being described to buyers right now. Use it to find out what the market says. Do not use it to score your own page.

When to choose you x you i

Choose us when you want to know whether an assistant can even read your page, and why the visitors who do arrive leave without buying. We check that your content is structured so it can be quoted, then measure your headline, your buttons, your prices, your trust signals, your speed and your accessibility. One report, $5, no subscription required.

What we check that Perplexity does not

Every one of these is a row in the table above, ticked in our column and blank in theirs.

  • Links your fixes to your Google traffic
  • Shows what AI answers cost you in clicks
  • Compares your clicks with last year
  • Tracks your score against your Google traffic
  • Checks how fast your pages load
  • Checks it works on phones
  • Checks people with disabilities can use it
  • Checks your brand is consistent
  • Predicts where visitors look first
  • Flags copy that sounds AI-written
  • Emails you what your fixes did, 30 days on
  • Scores measured against what real people said, not an opinion

What a year costs

Same year, both tools, list prices only.

Perplexity Pro, billed annually, $17 a month
$204a year
you x you i $5 an audit, 12 audits, one a month
$60a year
Difference over a year
$144

And you only pay for the audits you run. One audit is $5, paid once, so a year of monthly checks is a ceiling and not a bill. A subscription is the other way round: you pay it whether you look at it that month or not.

The two tools do different jobs, and the table above says which. This is only what each one asks for.

Perplexity vs you x you i: common questions

Do you tell me whether Perplexity mentions my brand?

No. Tools like Otterly.AI and Profound do that, and if the question keeping you up is whether assistants name you, buy one of them. We answer the question underneath it: whether your pages are written and structured so that an assistant can read them, understand what you sell, and quote you accurately.

Is being cited by AI the same as ranking on Google?

No, and the gap is widening. A page can rank perfectly and still be unquotable, usually because the claim a buyer needs is buried in a graphic, split across tabs, or written so vaguely that nothing can be lifted out of it. We flag those pages.

Can I ask Perplexity to audit my site instead?

You can, and it will answer. It will also answer differently tomorrow, because nothing behind the answer is measured. That is fine for exploring an idea and useless for deciding what to change first.

What is the price?

An audit is $5. There is no subscription required and no minimum: you run one when you have a page worth reading.

What is the audit based on?

Our own models, trained on what real people did on real websites: the pages they left, bought from, read, and trusted, plus the web standards for speed, accessibility, readability, and brand. A chatbot learns from text written about websites; these learn from what actually worked. Every fix comes from published research, ranked by the size of its effect.

Can't an AI chatbot tell me the same thing?

For a decision the business rides on, you want judgment that holds still. Ask a chatbot the same question twice and the answer changes, because it is giving you the average of everything it has read, where the loudest voice often wins. Our scores stay put and point at a specific fix, so you can act on one and defend it to whoever signs off.

Why not just paste my website into a chatbot?

Because a chat ends. It answers the question you thought to ask, and then it is over: it does not know what you changed afterwards, it has never seen your traffic, and it will never come back in October to tell you what the edit you made in July was worth. Ours ranks the fixes in the order worth doing, then watches what your search traffic does and emails you the numbers at 30, 60 and 90 days. You still make the changes. Nothing here decides on its own that your homepage needs rewriting.
